Robertson Wins on Barkley Lake

Matt Robertson of Central City, Kentucky won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Kentucky Division running out of Kuttawa/Lyon County Boat Ramp in Kuttawa, KY on July 23, 2016. He caught five bass weighing 20.64 pounds. He anchored his bag with a 5.77 pound kicker. “I like to night fish and I knew we would take off early enough to catch some fish first thing this morning using a black spinner bait so I took advantage of that. Once the sun got up, I started throwing a jig and a swimbait on ledges anywhere from 15-25 foot of water,” stated Robertson. Robertson took home $5,000 for his efforts as well as $500 from Triton Gold.

Ram Open Series Heads to Barkley Lake

ATHENS, Ala. – The Kentucky Division of the Ram Truck Open Series will hold its next event of the season on June 18, 2016, on Barkley Lake in Kuttawa, KY.

The competitors will launch at Kuttawa/Lyon County Boat Ramp, located at 1052 Lake Barkley Dr. Kuttawa, KY. 42055. Anglers may begin fishing at 5 a.m. or safe light. The weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. at The Cabin Bait and Tackle where there will be free hotdogs for the anglers provided by The Cabin Bait and Tackle. Carroll Wins Tough One on Kentucky Lake

David B. Carroll of Manitou, KY won the Kentucky division Ram Truck Open Series event at Kentucky Lake on May 7, 2016. Carroll caught an 18.18 pound bag of Kentucky Lake bass to win $5000. “I caught my fish dragging a peanut butter and jelly colored football jig with a green pumpkin trailer. I targeted secondary points and little breaks off of the bank. My bigger fish were caught first thing in the morning and I was able to cull a few times. The day got off to a good start and I just tried to keep it going. Also, I wanted to thank Next Level Tournament Fishing by David Gnewikow. Ever since I took his class, I been able to catch more fish and know how to have the proper mental attitude it takes to win at the next level,” said Carroll.

Walsh Takes Co-angler Victory at Kentucky Opener

JoJo Walsh of Bon Aqua, TN was the co-angler champion of the Ram Truck Open Series event held on March 12, 2016 at Kentucky Lake. His 13.40 pound limit was worth $1500. “I caught my fish today on just about every bait I threw. I caught about nine keepers. The two biggest bass came on an Ultimate Swimbait made by Todd Ruth,” said Walsh.

Josh Hoy of Woodland, IL finished in second place on the co-angler side with 11.68 pounds to win $503. “I caught my fish using a red Cordell lipless crankbait in about three feet of water. I had to cull a few times, but I pretty much caught them throughout the day,” said Hoy.

Robby Hand of Clarksville, TN brought in 10.97 pounds to finish in third place and win $335. “I use a Red Eye Shad, targeting shallow points,” said Hand.

Boggs Take Kentucky Opener

Drew Boggs of Lebanon, TN won the Kentucky division Ram Truck Open Series opener at Kentucky Lake on March 12, 2016. Boggs caught a 27.80 pound bag of Kentucky Lake bass, which included the 6.86 pound boater Big Bass, to win $5510. “I fished last weekend and found a pattern. I went back there this morning and everything had changed. I picked up a four pounder in the area using a football jig. I made adjustments and found a back of a pocket that had some clear water. This is where I caught my fish that secured my win. I caught my biggest fish of the tournament on a Red Eye Shad,” said Boggs.

Craig Hipshire of Benton, KY finished in second place with 23.89 pounds to win $1329. “I caught every fish on a one ounce Accent double willow spinnerbait. I was fishing in about 5-8 feet of water. I caught three fish first thing in the morning and then, I hit a lull. It picked back up in the afternoon for me. It was one of those days, you just had to grind it out,” said Hipshire.

Brent Anderson of Kingston Springs, TN finished in third place with 20.03 pounds winning $886. “I caught my fish on about 12-15 different types of bait. We caught over 100 keepers today, we just never could get a big bite,” said Anderson.
