On about my fourth cast, I caught my Big Bass on a jig in around two feet of water. After catching that fish, I’m going to stay on Keowee for the rest of the year, throwing that same jig,” laughed Childers.
Tracy Watkins of Williamston, SC finished in second place with 19.00 pounds to win $1030. “I was on good quality fish today, didn’t lose any fish, and had a good net man. I even had one get wrapped around a tree. Everything went right. Things just went better for Randy (Childers),” said Watkins.
Michael Maloy of Piedmont, SC finished in third place with 16.53 pounds winning $687. “I fished mid-lake up, just looking for staging fish that were moving up shallow to spawn. I mainly targeted ditches and feeder creeks,” said Maloy.
