Waller Wins on Lake Hartwell
ATHENS, Ala. – Cain Waller of Hartwell, Georgia won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series South Carolina tournament, held on June 11th on Lake Hartwell.
Running out of Green Pond near Anderson, SC, Waller caught five bass weighing 15.72 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, Waller took home a check for $5000. “I was on the lower end of the lake and had my five fish by 8:00 am. I threw a fluke all day long. I tried to help my Co-Angler get his limit since he had three or four come off," said Waller.
In second for the Boaters, Matthew Justice of Fair Play, SC landed a five-bass tournament limit weighing 15.12 pounds with a 4.44-pound kicker. He collected $1182 for the effort. “I fished pretty close to the ramp today and caught them all on topwater. I hate to lose by a dead fish penalty, but I have to congratulate Cain, he had a good catch,” said Justice.
Randy Childers of Anderson, SC took third for the boaters with five bass going 14.21 pounds. He earned $788. “I had a lot of fish miss me. They just wouldn’t eat the bait because of no wind. They would just come up and roll on the bait, but not eat it,” said Childers.
Finishing fourth, Andy Wicker of Pomaria, SC landed a five-bass limit for 13.91 pounds including a 4.53-pound kicker.
Joe Anders of Easley, SC rounded out the top five boaters with five bass at 12.88 pounds topped by a 3.86-pound kicker.
The biggest bass for the boaters was caught by Andy Wicker of Pomaria, SC that weighed 4.53 pounds. Wicker pocketed $510.00. Wicker also won an ABU Garcia Revo SX for catching his big bass on an Abu garcia reel.

In the Co-Angler Division, Dustin Ballard of Canon, GA won with three bass going 7.53 pounds. He sealed his victory with a 2.78-pound kicker to pocket a check for $1500.
“I caught my fish all on topwater in 20-30 feet of water using a KVD Sexy Dawg. I want to thank my boater for putting me on fish,” said Ballard.
Taking second for the Co-Anglers, Tyler Thompson of Anderson, SC brought in a three-bass limit weighing 7.18 pounds. He collected $502.50 for the effort. “I caught all my fish on topwater. I got to fish with Randy (Childers) today and he isn’t lying, if we had a little bit of wind today we could have caught some giants. We were all over fish today,” said Thompson.
Brody Manley of Pickens, SC placed third among the co-anglers with three bass going 6.44 pounds. He earned $335. “I caught my fish on a homemade fluke all day on the lower end of the lake. Just casting and reeling in about 20-30 feet of water,” said Manley.
In fourth place among the Co-Anglers, Tracy Lloyd of Cross Lanes, WV brought in three bass for 6.15 pounds.
Jason Hueble of Whitmore, SC finished in fifth place with three bass at 5.74 pounds.
The biggest bass for the Co-Anglers was caught by Lesley Childers of Anderson, SC that weighed 4.30 pounds. Lesley pocketed $195.00

Slated for July 30th, the next divisional tournament will be held on Clarks Hill Reservoir out of Dorn Fishing Facility near McCormick, SC. At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation advance the 2017 Ray Scott Championship, slated for Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville, TN in April of 2017.
